  • Yes. Each speaker prepares a presentation deck of exactly 20 slides. Those slides are set to auto-advance every 15 seconds. Thus, each talk is exactly 5 minutes long. The motto of Ignite is “Enlighten us, but make it quick.”

  • There is no set theme for Ignite.

Topics are as diverse as the speakers. Some past topics have included things like: Lego addiction, fear of birds, mixology with simple syrup, surviving domestic abuse, falling in love with OCD, living in the 1600s, internet meme curation, homelessness, and fart jokes.

We encourage speakers to select the topic that sets their toe a-tappin’, the thing about which they consider themself to have a nerd-like depth of knowledge.

  • Nope. Ignite is about new ideas, stories, culture, technology, unexpected insights, and oxford commas. Attendees come to be inspired and learn something new.

If you're looking for business exposure consider being a sponsor.

General Questions

Event Logistics Questions

  • Up to 7 days prior to the event, sure, no problem. After that, sorry, you’re out of luck. Maybe try to find someone to give/sell your ticket to.

Your ticket email receipt will have a link to request a refund.

  • See the Tickets page for complete details on where to park, how to get here, when, why, who, and everything else.

  • Can they behave themselves?

The content of many talks should be considered the same as a “Rated R” movie. You’re not likely to see any nudity, but there will definitely be adult subject matter presented, probably with a sprinkling of F-bombs and other salty language.

Alcohol is served at the event, and the bartenders are strict about seeing ID.

Anyone disruptive will be asked to leave. Sorry no refunds.

  • It’s weird that this question is asked frequently, but yes. You can print out your ticket or bring it on your phone.

  • Usually a local brewery will provide each attendee a drink ticket good for one free beer. Drink tickets may not be exchanged for cash or any other type of beverage.

Beer, wine, liquor, soft drinks, and water will also be available for purchase.

You must be 21 to drink alcohol. Our bartenders are professionals, and they are strict about IDs.

  • We usually have food trucks or other light catering at Ignite Minneapolis.

You can eat food inside the building, but not in the auditorium itself.

However you may take your beverage into the auditorium.

  • Great question. Please check out our Code of Conduct.
